By virtue of the Nigeria International Rights and Treaty Obligation, Nigeria is bound by some treaties relating to the territory of Nigeria before its independence in 1960 entered between the United Kingdom and other Countries.
In other words, the mere fact that a treaty was entered before Nigeria gained independence in 1960 does not render it inapplicable in Nigeria.
It, therefore means that both the pre-independence treaties and post-independence treaties are applicable in Nigeria.
