Here Is Why Taking Over Government in Nigeria Is Only Permitted By The Constitution

In Nigeria, anyone who wants to take over government must do so in a way permitted by the constitution, which is through a free, fair and credible election.

This is because, under the Nigerian constitution, the country shall not be governed, nor shall any person or group of persons take over the government or Nigeria or any part thereof except through the constitutionally acceptable means which is through a free and fair election, as stated earlier.

Hence, attempting to take over power through coup d’etat or any other crude means is unconstitutional.

See Section 1(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria. Click Here

The power to elect lies with the masses through a free and fair election.
Citizens should endeavour that they perform their constitutional rights.
